Knollkreg Mem Park Abingdon, Va His government-issued WWI veteran's marker reads June 26, 1891 – Feb 26, 1949 — both dates exactly one year earlier than the register report's 1892–1950, same day and month both times. A family-timeline clue leans toward the register report: if the marker's 1949 death date were right, his son Johnnie would've been born just 251 days later — meaning Robert Preston conceived him within weeks of his own death and never met him. Not impossible, but tight enough to favor 1950. Marker also newly documents his service: Pvt., 12th Co., 155th Depot Brigade. See Sources for the full reasoning.
